Lizbeth was interested in science from an early age, specifically in how the human body works. Lacking her brother’s artistic talent, her early drawings were stick figures of humans with swirling lines around the “torso” that represented the mysteries of physiology. After receiving a degree in biology from Reed College, she went on to obtain a PhD in Physiology and Biophysics from the University of Washington. Her doctoral training focused on neuroscience, reflecting her persistent fascination with the workings of the human brain. Lizbeth currently works at Bastyr University in the area of medical ethics to protect the rights and welfare of human research subjects. In this capacity she is required to defend the same privacy and confidentiality laws that thwarted her search for her brother.

Lizbeth lives near Seattle, Washington with her husband. She is proud mother of a grown son, and surrounds herself with animals. She sings in an acclaimed choral group, Seattle Pro Musica, for the sake of her own creative soul as well as to keep her brother’s song alive.
